A little bit about Farmer Helen Chandler
A Rutgers ecology graduate turned farmer, it took me a while to realize that farming was the ideal career for me. However, once realized, it was obvious that it is a good fit. What drew me to the field were the opportunities that farming provides. It allows me to perform physical work outside, requires lots of problem solving skills, lets me work to preserve and improve environmental conditions, and of course, it gives me the opportunity to provide healthy, delicious produce to all members of my community, while offering them the chance to forge a renewed relationship to the land.
Exie the dog!
Master morale booster, crop protector, comic relief – Exie is our fearless companion!
Jim and I adopted her from a rescue in April of 2011 when she was four months old. Now, at four years, she is polished farm dog. She stays off the beds, escorts visitors and guards our food. She is still as willful as when she was a puppy, exploring the world on our own, but we all have our quirks, and Exie wouldn't be Exie without hers.
