Following a couple of harrowing weeks, we managed to plant and protect a wonderful fall crop of Head lettuce, Kale, Spinach etc. In addition… well I probably shouldn’t say anything because we don’t know if they’ll size up before the frost… well, okay I’ll tell you; there are 4 newly weeded carrot beds that are looking very promising! So long as the frost doesn’t come too early, I suspect that we’ll all be deep in soup country during the cold months! I think that’s it for today folks; we have our hands full prepping the farm for the cold nights to come and of course prepping our soil for a restorative winter’s rest. I suppose I should address the elephant in the room:
Despite the appearance of this brash young storm named “Joaquin”, we will be attending our regularly scheduled markets in Flemington and Metuchen! Hope to see you all there!
New this week: Sweet Potatoes (limited), Sweet Potato greens (cook them like you would cook Spinach) and the return of Celery!
