This week we are sending to market some tomatoes that were harvested mostly green, but now have ripened. While they are real good, I should note that they don’t quite taste like the tomatoes of high summer. The difference is hard to place, but it only ruins the tomato if you expect it to be something else. I like them sautéed in a pan. Or if you like, make some sauce. Last chance to put some of that summery goodness away for the cold winter months.
We are also starting sign-up for our 2015 season Farm Memberships. It is a great way to get involved with the farm and a convenient way to get all the high quality and nutritious vegetables you need. This year we will also be offering off season pickups. While in the winter months, we will offer what still grows and see how it goes while we work out some kinks. In May is when we guarantee it will get fantastic. Members will get their pick of fresh spring vegetables more than a month before our market season starts. Pick-ups will be offered in central locations in both Somerville and Metuchen (locations to be determined.) Feel free to email or ask us at market if you have any questions. Additionally, if you have a great idea for a pick-up location, we are open to suggestions.
