Yesterday and today, just in time for the rain, we got the fall head lettuce, broccoli, chard, and collards in the ground along with more cabbage, boc choi, and beets in the ground. Those little plants were glad to be out in the world! The greens are all out of the ground- Arugula, tatsoi, mustard, mizuna -- delicious -- now we wait. And the radishes are up too! The carrots are looking surprisingly good, they just need to be weeded, story of my life. Coming soon we will have daikon (long spicy and turnips to enjoy.
In big now, Tomatoes! Who knows how long they will last but while they are here, we might as well eat as many as possible. Get ready for a tomato sale this week! Fill the box (about ten pounds) for ten dollars! Make gazpacho, salsa, bruschetta, have a tomato sandwich everyday, or put some away for the winter and it will be none of that shelf sauce for you!
Soooo Salad mix is back in town, delicious as ever. And coming in cool this week Pac choy! This is the type with those long juicy stems, perfect for stir fry or a chopped salad. And we still have a few melon and watermelon left.
