The farmers are feeling it to, with a bit of shameful glee. This time of year is when the light at the end of the tunnel starts to shine through. We are getting more time to be human— making cookies, going on hikes, taking a breath—because when the crops slow down, so can we. Not to mention, working in this weather is refreshing.
Some of the long missed crops are coming back to market! At last, Fresh Baby Ginger! For those of you who haven’t had it, baby ginger is phenomenal. No need to peel and no need to saw. Your knife will just slide right through these juicy, flavorful chunks. Use the leaves for teas, to infuse water, or anywhere you would use lemon grass.
Arugula, Choi, Mizuna, and Mustard are back, and our fall plantings of kale are sweeping in with all their glamour, tender and flavorful. Glad to have a good mix of greens back in my life.
Hope you are having a great week and look forward to seeing you at market!
